I am a Soldier in God’s Army

I thought you might enjoy reading this.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer, and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity.

I will either retire in this army at the Rapture or die in this army; but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable.
If my God needs me, I am there.

If He needs me in the Sunday school, to teach the children, work with the youth, help adults or just sit and learn, He can use me because I am there! I am a soldier.
I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up,
pumped up, picked up or pepped up. I am a soldier.
No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me. I am a soldier.

I am not a wimp. I am in place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name, and building His kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to.

I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Jesus called me into this army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will still come out ahead. I will win.

My God has and will continue to supply all of my needs. I am more than a conqueror.
I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ. Devils cannot defeat me.
People cannot disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me.
Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me.

Governments cannot silence me and hell cannot handle me. I am a soldier.
Even death cannot destroy me. For when my commander calls me from this battlefield,
He will promote me to Captain and then allow me to rule with Him.

I am a soldier in the army, and I’m marching claiming victory. I will not give up. I will not turn around. I am a soldier, marching heaven bound. Here I stand! Will you stand with me?

Remember your weakness and need!

“The Christian often tries to forget his weakness: God wants us to remember it, to feel it deeply. The Christian wants to conquer his weakness and to be freed from it: God wants us to rest and even rejoice in it. The Christian mourns over his weakness: Christ teaches His servant to say, ‘I take pleasure in infirmities; most gladly will I glory in my infirmities.’ The Christian thinks his weakness his greatest hindrance in the life and service of God: God tells us that it is the secret of strength and success. It is our weakness, heartily accepted and continually realized, that gives us our claim and access to the strength of Him who has said, ‘My strength is made perfect in weakness.’”

Hosea, God loving the unlovely

The following is a quote from the message that I plan to preach Sunday morning from Hosea. I hope you will be there. What a God we serve! How He loves us! Consider the following and invite a friend to hear more!

Donald Grey Barnhouse said of the love expressed in this story: “Who can explain the sanity of true love? Love is of God, and it is infinite. Love is sovereign. Love is apart from reason; love exists for its own reasons. Love is not according to logic; love is according to love. Thus it was with Hosea, for he was playing the part that God has played with you, all of your life, and with me.”

Barnhouse writes, “The pursuing love of God is the greatest wonder of the spiritual universe. We leave God in the heat of our own self-desire and run from His will because we want so much to have our own way. We get to a crossroads and look back in pride, thinking that we have outdistanced Him. Just as we are about to congratulate ourselves on our achievement of self-enthronement, we feel a touch on our arm and turn in that direction to find Him there. ‘My child,’ He says in great tenderness, ‘I love you; and when I saw you running away from all that is good, I pursued you through a shortcut that love knows well, and awaited you here at the crossroads.’ We have torn ourselves free from His grasp and rushed off again, through deepest woods and farthest swamp, and as we look back again, we are sure, this time, that we have succeeded in escaping from Him. But, once more, the touch of love is on our other sleeve and when we turn quickly we find that He is there, pleading with the eyes of love, and showing Himself once more to be the tender and faithful One, loving to the end. He will always say, ‘My child, my name and nature are Love, and I must act according to that which I am. So it is that I have pursued you, to tell you that when you are tired of your running and your wandering, I will be there to draw you to myself once more.’

See you Sunday morning for Bible Study and 9:30 AM and then the Worship service at 10:30 AM

Steps to victory over the dragon

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

They overcame the Dragon by the blood of the Lamb

  • Like the martyrs and all other saints they have been washed in the blood of the Lamb

7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

  • Our salvation and redemption is by the blood of the Lamb I Peter 1:18-19
  • There are no sins on our account Romans 4:7-8
  • There is no condemnation for us Romans 8:1
  • Our victory is based on us knowing who we are and what He has done
  • We have put on the helmet of Salvation Ephesians 6:17
  • Bring your thoughts under His control
  • Think what you are supposed to think Philippians 4:8
  • Resist the devil when he brings thoughts that you shouldn’t have
  • Submit to God in your thought life and then in your actions

James 4:6-8 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

They overcame him by the word of their testimony

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

  • These saints hold on to their testimony
  • They continue witnessing to the truth
  • You must act on what you believe James

4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

  • You can know you are saved but until you step forward and speak the truth you will not have victory
  • Speak it in your heart and mind when the Devil says condemning ugly things
  • Speak it in the world to the lost and others that Jesus is real
  • Realize that resisting the devil will mean your speaking truth to yourself in your mind and to him when he accuses you or God
  • Real faith speaks it and acts on it-story of David and Goliath

They overcame him by not loving their lives and being willing to die for their faith

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

  • They chose doing what God wanted above what would please them
  • Every real victory in the Bible took place when the person believed something so strongly that they didn’t care what happened
  • Jonathan and his armor bearer
  • Elijah and the 400 prophets of Baal
  • Moses and Egypt
  • Walls of Jericho
  • They knew that dying only meant going to heaven, not much of a threat

Philippians 1:21 23 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

  • Victory will not be yours unless you are willing to risk it all for your faith
