Just a thought for you to consider if you are a missionary! If your church were hiring a staff member and were going to pay them $6,000 a month would you be considered for that position.
Do you do the ministry well enough to think that your church would be getting a deal to get you at that price?
Have you been leading people to Christ?
Have you been used of God to reach and disciple people for the Lord Jesus?
Do you think that you in good conscience could think you are worthy of the job?
If we asked those at your church that see you in your service would they say you were the man?
They know you, they see your leadership, they have an opinion about how much you love God and how much He is using you. Would they vote for you?
What does your track record show?
How many people have you influenced to serve God?
How many people have recognized that God has His hand on you in a special way?
These might make good questions for you to consider before you go asking for support. Many times men want to be missionaries that have never done the work. They wouldn’t be called to serve on a church staff. They couldn’t do the work. They have no experience.
They get a call to missions and think that somehow qualifies them for support.
They went to Bible college. They have no experience but want to start at the top of the line.
The mission agencies encourage that attitude. Churches encourage it. Members are often discouraged by it.
Could or would you have the character to at least examine yourself and work at being worthy of the support that churches all over America are going to give you?
