Would you hire you?

Just a thought for you to consider if you are a missionary! If your church were hiring a staff member and were going to pay them $6,000 a month would you be considered for that position.

Do you do the ministry well enough to think that your church would be getting a deal to get you at that price?
Have you been leading people to Christ?
Have you been used of God to reach and disciple people for the Lord Jesus?
Do you think that you in good conscience could think you are worthy of the job?

If we asked those at your church that see you in your service would they say you were the man?
They know you, they see your leadership, they have an opinion about how much you love God and how much He is using you. Would they vote for you?

What does your track record show?
How many people have you influenced to serve God?
How many people have recognized that God has His hand on you in a special way?

These might make good questions for you to consider before you go asking for support. Many times men want to be missionaries that have never done the work. They wouldn’t be called to serve on a church staff. They couldn’t do the work. They have no experience.

They get a call to missions and think that somehow qualifies them for support.

They went to Bible college. They have no experience but want to start at the top of the line.

The mission agencies encourage that attitude. Churches encourage it. Members are often discouraged by it.

Could or would you have the character to at least examine yourself and work at being worthy of the support that churches all over America are going to give you?

Check out Chris Waye’s blog

A few days ago Chris Waye published some wonderful things that he had learned from a pastor in the nursing home.

Don’t sell yourself to draw a crowd

There are two kinds of churches: Christ centered or entertainment centered

People will always find a better show than yours, just preach the Bible

Things are different these days, people just don’t have a love for the Lord like they used to

Surround yourself with people who love the Lord

Don’t worry about the money, God will take care of you

In 1947, they needed a church building and $10,000 to build it. One by one, men stood up in that meeting and raised it on the spot. Surround yourself with these kind of men that will invest their lives

The church does not need more paid staff, it needs the people to be involved in every aspect of the ministry

“I went to church to fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ and to enter the throne of glory, not to be entertained”

I think this is worthy to be considered. I also think you would enjoy following God’s work in Chris’ life. Click here to go to his blog.

Planting Churches in Atlanta

My heart hungers to plant churches any where in the world. One of the major desires I have is to see Vision start churches here in the USA. I feel like we have waited too long already. Our church is closing in on our 5 year anniversary and have yet to start another church here in the USA.

I just listened to a dear brother share the statistics for Atlanta. Consider the following:

In the 1960′s the Southern Baptist had 166 churches inside the perimeter.

Today they only have 40 churches left inside the perimeter.

Since the 1960′s Atlanta has grown by 24%.

Today there are 878,000 people live inside Atlanta and that will grow to 951,000 by 2014. source

The Southern Baptists are doing a lot more than the independent Baptists to reach this area.

Please pray with me that God would raise up the right team, the money, etc. so that we could start something inside Atlanta.

Will you pray? Would consider going? Would you give sacrificially to a church planting project?

Bible Expo 2011

April 5-8, 2011 Vision Baptist Church and the Our Generation Training Center will host Bible Expo 2011.

Bible Expo 2011 will be a Conference on Expository Preaching. Preaching the Bible verse by verse and chapter by chapter. Being a voice for the text and not getting a good thought and finding a verse to match!!

I want to invite all pastors, preachers, missionaries, students to come and participate in this conference. It will be free for all of you. We will feed you as long as you register. We will even find you a place to stay in the homes of our church family if you like.

Pastor Scott Tewell will be the main speaker. I will give you more details over the coming weeks but you are going to want to mark your calendar now for this conference.

There will be a special Pastor’s Fellowship on the 7th and 8th. You will not want to miss this.

Plans underway for next World Vision Celebration

I hope you have marked your calendar for September 15-18, 2011. We will be having our World Vision Celebration. Plans are already being made.

Right now we have the following missionaries scheduled to be with us! XX, North Africa and the Muslims, Chris and Andria Gardner, Peru, David and Katie Gardner, Peru, Jason and Lori Holt,Chile, and Chris and Sherry Waye on deputation as missionaries to the United Kingdom will all be with us!

Of these 5 that are scheduled to be with us three families are members of our church, Chris and Andria Gardner, David and Katie Gardner, and Jason and Lori Holt.

You are going to be greatly blessed. This will be our greatest conference ever. We are working on it and planning it a year in advance. John Pearson and the World Vision Celebration Committee are hard at work!

We are still praying that God will lead us to 5 more very special missionary families that we can have with us. Pray with me that God will direct our search.

We have already increased our monthly missionary support by $700 a month since the last conference. That is $8,400 a year more that we are giving.

We took on as new missionaries, the Bradley Edmondson family, the Chris Waye family, and Andrew Stensaas family.

I thank you for being such faithful givers. I thank you for being real senders, praying, giving, communicating, and helping. God bless you!
