CHURCHES

I would like to greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, knowing that our King always pours His blessings out over each of us!

It has been a privilege to serve the Lord over the past month. God gave me the opportunity to be in various churches sharing our burden for the ministry we will complete in North Africa. I thank God for each opportunity He gives to me.

The time has arrived to figure the costs of our tickets from Peru to Morocco. The tension grows just a little every day knowing the responsibility the situation brings but at the same time we are very happy to be able to serve in that part of the world. I ask you to pray we would be able to obtain our tickets within the indicated date.

TRIPS

Last month I was invited to a missions conference in the Good News Baptist Church of Chiclayo. Thanks be to God everything went very well! I thank God for Pastor Sergio Serquen who gave me the opportunity to present the ministry and to preach during the conference.

I am preparing for a visit to Chile and Argentina. I know that it will be a blessing as I continue to make the necessary contacts, visiting churches in those countries as well.

MY FAMILY

We are praying for the project God has given to us. My wife is very happy and ready to serve the Lord and my little daughter is growing. It is beautiful to see her grow up and I hope the Lord will give us wisdom to instruct her in His ways.

Here is your opportunity to make a difference in Colombia!

d

This is my third post asking you to help Jaime plant churches in Colombia. If you would like to know how to get money to him please contact me here in the comment section or at gardner @bcwe.org. Below I will continue with a translation of what he sent me as his plan of action in Colombia!

We will start our labor in Colombia with the goal of planting a church with a missionary heart, soul winning, give out tracts in then neighborhood, etc. We will rent a house that we can use for the church and for my family.

The step by step plan goes like this

We will move back to Colombia from Peru

Get settled in, in Bogotá in a rented house that we can use for us and the church so that we can start a church with the contacts that we have.

Begin a ministry of evangelism and discipleship in the neighborhood wherever the doors will open

Get a group of candidates for leaders and start from there by starting to train them in theology and practice to be future pastors and missionaries that will plan more churches all over the nation of Colombia

Start a Bible College where we will be able to train men and women for the work of the ministry.

We are able to help you get your monthly support to Jaime. They are in desperate need. This is a great investment for your missionary dollar. Will you consider helping them?

Matt Allen’s prayer letter

Hi, Team,

Once again, THANK YOU for the work you do and the TEAMWORK we have seen this past week!

I’ll start with the good news that most of you already know….
We have a new addition! Josh and Rebecca Florence announced this week that they will be coming back to PNG as full-time missionaries! Where they will be working long-term, and all the other details will be worked out in the future but we are thrilled that they have gotten peace about this decision.
That said, I’ll be giving them my mailing list and promoting them as they do their deputation. I would highly encourage that you do the same. As my mentor, Austin Gardner says, “Build your brother’s name!” If you have a church or two that you think would be good for them to try to go by (don’t send them to a no-good church just as a joke!) drop me an email with the contact info for that church, and I’ll forward it to them.

I’ll list our prayer requests and praises as usual below:

Prayer

1) Dad requested prayer for the church-plant going on at Aminawa Village. They had 60 people in attendance today, and at the most five of those are saved. This is their fourth Sunday there, and they are about to get into presenting man’s need of salvation. Please pray with Dad and Andrew as they do this church-plant.

2) Pray about the water supply. Of course, as I write this email, we are getting the hardest rain I’ve seen since May…maybe the Lord is answering this prayer request even now. The water supply has been going down for the last three months, and there is now problems in the health ministry with local people drinking contaminated water. Manimango Village has an “outbreak” of possible dysentary, and the symptoms are being seen in other villages as well.

3) Andrew-from-Pengoni’s wife has a baby that is about to be born. The baby is not positioned correctly, and Mom would like prayer for this baby’s safe delivery.

4) Ken Aila has some sort of brain disorder. Mom asks prayer as we decide whether and how to send him to Kudjip Hospital for further testing. This will require a large amount of money and will be the first patient of its kind. Ken got saved a few weeks ago, and is in his early twenties. His illness started last December, and he has exhausted the local medical knowledge.

5) Andrew requested prayer for his visa situation. We should be getting good news about his visa this week. Pray that the PNG Embassy in Washington DC will allow him to stay here in PNG and only FedEx his passport back. This will save him a round-trip ticket all for a stamp in his passport (and besides, he can keep working here while its in the mail!!!)

6) Pray for the Watitako Youth Rally coming up in a few weeks.

7) Sarah asked prayer for her literacy class as they extend the class one more week. She has several students that are struggling. While five of the students have excelled, she is praying that this extra week will help the others to “catch up.”

8) Pray for John and Mary Gray while Mary continues her cancer treatments in Brisbane. John is very concerned…please keep this confidential and in-house only.

Praises

1) Manus got saved! I believe their is an article on the website about Manus getting saved…Dad wrote it. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.

2) Little Juwen was very ill this week, and he showed improvement today, running around and playing like normal (and taking his clothes off in church…haha)

3) Andrew had five new students in RI this week, including one that was Catholic.

4) Dema, a lady, got saved at Kotidanga Baptist Church this morning.

5) A child got saved in Sunday School at Kotidanga last Sunday.

6) The church building at Kotidanga is TOO SMALL! After the children went to children’s church this morning, I counted roughly 85 teens and adults in the main service. I believe there were at least that many children in children’s church too.

7) Pastor James and Keresa gave a praise today that their son Caleb is listening to correction. I believe that their persistent training is paying off. Thank you to those of you that have been a part of helping “steer” Caleb to listen to his parents. This is so counter-cultural here, as many of you know. And, Praise the Lord, Pastor James wants to buck the system with his own son.

8) Pastor Tau Abari has agreed to come preach the ordination service in Bro. John Gray’s place. I will be arranging the details with him tomorrow, but we do have a replacement for Bro. John while he goes to Brisbane to be with Mary.

9) Governor Havila Kavo (MEMORIZE THAT NAME, new guys!) confirmed this week that he will be coming up for the ordination service. We look forward to having him here for the service and the chance to have him in our home that evening too. He will overnight with us before flying out Friday morning (17th of September).

10) The posts are in the ground on the clinic, and the floor bearers are on as well. It looks great. Good job, Dad and Andrew–especially picking up when Giamkasi quit on Wednesday, leaving things on your shoulders!

God is doing great things in the ministry here! I’m thrilled to have a team like you guys surrounding me! May He be glorified in all we do!

Andrew wrote an update for the website this past week. He did a great job, and I’m going to get it online today. This week is Rachel’s turn….remember–pictures are great!

I pray for each of you daily, and thank the Lord for you.
Because HE lives,
Matt Allen
