I met Jaime Rafael Benitez years ago in Colombia. He loves God. He has paid a price to serve God. He left Colombia and went to Peru to study at the Bible College. He moved his entire family down. He has been there for several years now. He has completed his studies. He is ready to go back to Colombia.
Colombia is a very needy country. I will give you in Jaime’s own words the reason he is wanting to plant churches tomorrow, but today I just wanted to ask you if you would be willing to help him!
He will need monthly support. He is a proven church planter. I would be glad to talk to you and explain his ministry if you need.
He asked me to see if I could find some people who would help him for about 2 years. He will need about $1200 a month minimum.
You will not go wrong supporting this man. Would you pray about it? Would you contact me with any questions you have at 770-500-8021 or gardner @bcwe.org?
Jaime and family would be a welcome addition to your mission’s family.
You can contact him personally via the following options:
Jaime, Margelis, Ray Andrés y Sara Sofía Benítez Betín.

Christian volunteers and foster parents at a Moroccan orphanage were forced to abandon dozens of children on Monday after they were accused of proselytizing.
Moroccan children are seen here with foster parents at Village of Hope. Authorities raided the children’s home on Monday, accusing them of proselytizing, and forced the parents and Christian volunteers to leave the country and abandon 33 children.
Moroccan authorities raided Village of Hope and said they were expelling the 20 workers and parents. The 33 children who were being cared for cried out “hysterically” for their foster parents as they were left behind.
“Watching the children be told by their parents that they had to leave, that they would maybe never see them again, is the most painful thing I have ever witnessed,” said Chris Broadbent of VoH.
Village of Hope registered with the Moroccan government in 2002 as an official Christian organization and received permission to talk about Christianity to the children in their care, according to Broadbent.
The North African country is a predominantly Muslim country where Christians make up only 1.1 percent of the population. The government restricts non-Islamic religious materials and proselytizing and monitors the activities of non-Muslim religious groups.
Also, it is only legal for Muslims to adopt children. Volunteers at Village of Hope were thus acting as foster parents, though the children considered them to be their parents, Broadbent noted.
For nearly ten years, VoH volunteers had been open about their faith to the authorities and were allowed to take in and foster abandoned children, who would otherwise be killed or placed in state-run “mega-orphanages,” the organization stated. Despite that, authorities accused them of trying to convert the children to Christianity and forced the foster parents to board a bus heading to the airport to leave the country.
The staff was told the order came from the new Minister of Justice for Morocco, Mohamed Naciri.
“Thirty-three children have just been abandoned again by the actions of the Moroccan state,” said Broadbent, who is originally from New Zealand. “These 33 children have never known another mother. Some of them have been here for 10 years, since the start of VoH.
“This is a shame and a disgrace to the leaders of Morocco.”
Days ahead of the raid, Broadbent, his wife and two young children were called out at midnight and interrogated for 2.5 hours, he told Voxy News.
Without being given any explanation for the purpose of the interrogation or of their rights, the Broadbents were asked such questions as how they came to know about VoH, how they were personally financed, what they did when they meet together in our Sunday morning services at VoH, and whether they were evangelizing, as reported by Voxy.
Logan Maurer, regional manager of persecution watchdog International Christian Concern, said Monday’s incident isn’t isolated. On Feb. 4, authorities raided a Christian meeting in Asmis, arresting 18 and deporting the lone foreigner. Since then five other foreign Christian workers have been expelled.
“This is indeed a shameful act by the Moroccan government, and especially poignant,” Maurer commented in a statement. “Lately Morocco has taken a tyrannical stance against Christians, forcibly deporting foreigners and bringing charges against the Moroccan nationals they associated with. This marks a swift and ominous change in Moroccan policy toward human rights; the world must pay attention.”
Broadbent, meanwhile, has appealed to the public for prayers.
Village of Hope near Ain Leuh was started by two Americans, Emmagene Coates and Ellen Doran, more than 50 years ago. The organization seeks to establish a home for orphaned and unwanted children up to the age of 18 years. Educational programs, vocational training, agricultural training, medical care, small business training and many other projects are offered to the children and the wider community. VoH is committed to provide a loving and caring community of families for children, offering security and hope and enabling them to be fully integrated into the larger Moroccan community.
Kevin and Corli Hall are missionaries supported by Vision. They serve in South Africa. They are a most wonderful couple and God is greatly using them. They are celebrating 6 years of marriage. I knew that you would want to congratulate them and pray for them.
God is doing incredible things with this couple among the xhosa people. They have a wonderful ministry that I have had the privilege of visiting.
Kevin and Corli, we love you very much. We are very proud of you and all that you do. It is an honor for our church to be able to support a family like yours. I am looking forward to seeing all the great things that God is going to do with you in the coming days.
Jonathan and Heather are new to our church. God sent them this very year. They are preparing to be missionaries. Today is Jonathan’s birthday. I wanted to tell him how happy we are that God sent him and his family to Vision.
Jonathan has a very sweet spirit and apparent desire to serve the Lord. We are blessed to have them as members of Vision.
Happy Birthday, Jonathan, know that Vision loves you and thanks God for you!
I also invite you to sign up for a the Good News Podcast in Indonesian. The Vision staff is preaching in English and Josh Ewing is translating it for us into Indonesian. I think you might enjoy hearing the messages. They are approximately 10 minutes long.
I hope you will help Jason Holt and the Chile team to make a difference in several lives. They are going to try and raise several thousand dollars in the next couple of days. They will be taking supplies into Concepción where the earthquake took place.
They will find churches and God’s people that are suffering and try to make a difference.
You can click on this link and go to Jason’s blog and send an offering right now via paypal. I had the privilege of being the first to send a little.
Last night a massive 8.8 earthquake hit Chile. Although we are several hours from the epicenter, we still felt 8.0 level shaking for nearly 2 minutes. Three large buildings and several bridges near are church have collapsed. Many are injured and more than 120 have died so far.
Thankfully no one in our family was hurt! As far as we know, no one in our church was injured either.
Be praying that God will use this tragedy to bring many people to Him. As we drove to the church just a couple of hours ago, we passed dozens of people who were standing in the streets in a state of confusion and shock. Others have pitched tents in the parks because of structural damage to their homes. This afternoon we’re having a special prayer service at the church, and tomorrow we’re having 2 morning services and one afternoon service. Pray will us that many people will come to know the Lord through this difficult time.
We are still without electricity and internet in our home. Phone connections and cellphone coverage has been spotty throughout the morning. We’ll give you more updates during the next few days.
I got up this morning to read the following on a fox news alert:
Massive 8.5 magnitude earthquake hits near Concepcion, Chile, shaking buildings and causing blackouts
I was immediately concerned for our missionaries, members of our church, Jason and Lori Holt. Then I noticed that Chris Gardner had posted this on his blog:
Please be praying for the Holt family. Chile just experienced an 8.8 earthquake. I just read on facebook that everyone is ok at the Holt household but they have to wait till they can see how much damage was done. Pray for the country of Chile during this time. The phone lines are down and there is no electricity. Keep everyone in your prayers during this time. We will let you know as soon as we know anything else.
Then I saw a post on facebook by Jason’s mom:
Barbara Howard Holt Jason just called me to tell me that there was a 8.5 Earthquake in Chile. He said it lasted for about 2 minutes and that he is feeling tremors. He has talked the Kenney’s and McBrayers and they are all okay. The phones are done but he has a cell phone he bought for emergencies and that is what he called me from.
Barbara Howard Holt Please pray for them. I will let you know as soon as I talk to him again. He will try to call me as soon as it gets light and he can see how much damage there is.
