The Cambridge Seven

d

Seven young Englishmen (C. T. Studd, M. Beauchamp, W. W. Cassels, D. E. Hoste, S. P. Smith, A. T. Podhill-Turner, C. H. Polhill-Turner) who went to China in 1885 as missionaries.

Today is the anniversary of the Cambridge Seven arriving in China to meet Hudson Taylor. They had sailed and traveled for 6 weeks before arriving in China.

These men would go on to make a difference in eternity and also in the hearts of men and women as they would surrender their lives to be missionaries around the world and especially to China.

As I think of them today I wonder where the Alpharetta Seven are? I wonder where the young men and women willing to risk all of their lives to take the gospel to the world are. God has given us some great men and women in the Our Generation Training Center with just that heart.

We have more than seven right now preparing to go, not to China but some where in the world with the gospel. We have the great Vision Baptist Church standing behind them, loving them, training them and sending them out.

I beg God to stir the flames of passion for Him, His Word and His cause of world evangelism. My heart breaks for the Muslim countries who have no hope. They live hopeless lives and die even worse deaths.

My heart breaks for India and China where very little gospel is preached. I pray for Indonesia, the 4th largest country in the world, with very little gospel preaching taking place yet the doors are wide open.

My heart breaks for the vast area of Africa where little or no true gospel preaching exists. Where there are entire language groups with nearly no gospel witness.

Will you go? Will you help me help people go? Will you pray that God will send forth laborers? Will you help me get the message out?

The Cambridge Seven went out and by going not only did they make a difference as missionaries but they raised up an awareness that some said was almost embarrassing for the cause of world evangelism. Will you get involved?

More info on Celebration Sunday

This Sunday, March 21, Vision Baptist Church is celebrating its fourth year as a church family.

We have several things planned for the day and would like for you to be a part of it.

After our morning service we will have dinner on the grounds featuring the chili that the men of Vision have prepared for the “Ultimate Chili Throwdown” competition. The women are also competing in the highly anticipated bakeoff extravaganza.

For the children, we have all sorts of games and prizes to win. David Velke and Robert Canfield have worked hard with the young people and they will be singing a few specials that they put together in the morning service.

A small photo studio will be set up at the church for you and your family to have your picture taken for free.

Our early afternoon service begins at 1:15 P.M. and will feature exciting music with personal testimonies of members’ favorite memories here at Vision Baptist Church.

Make plans to come out and celebrate with us.

Recap from Bolivia

f

God allowed me to have a wonderful time with Kevin and Beth White in Cochabamba, Bolivia. They are doing a tremendous job.

They will be with us at Vision for our World Vision Celebration in September. So I hope you get it on your calendar to be at the conference and to meet and get to know the Whites.

The Whites are coming home on furlough at the end of May. If you have not had them in your church you will not want to miss them. God is using them in a great way.

The first thing we did on this trip was to take part in their first ever Couples Retreat. It was a blast. We stayed in a beautiful place. The couples were hungry to learn more about the Word of God and how to put it into practice in their marriages.

Then on Sunday we held regular services. They are having well over 100 each Sunday now and men are stepping forward to take the leadership positions.

On Monday I had the privilege of meeting with the leaders of the church as we had a cook out at the White’s home.

d

I ask you to pray for the ministry there. They need to purchase land for their future. They need your prayers that God will use the men to keep the church growing while Kevin is back in the states.

Pray that God will fill up their calendar and give them the needed new support.

I thank God for men and women like Kevin and Beth. They are true servants of the Lord. I thank God for the way they are serving Him.

Beth, I want to thank you for being a wonderful hostess. You are great and I think God is using you as a most wonderful help meet to a great man of God.

Happy Birthday to Mark Coffey

x

Today is Mark Coffey’s birthday. Mark has been a tremendous blessing to my family and the ministry for many years. I wanted to let you learn a little more about him. I am very proud that I have the opportunity to work with Mark. He as worked with me for well over 15 years now. Thank you Mark for your hard work, love for the Lord Jesus, and your family.

f

Mark started preaching as a young man. He has been more faithful to help get people into missions than many people you know. He has been used in every ministry that God has ever given him.
x

Mark has been a friend and part of our family for many years. He has helped in every part of the world that the Lord has allowed me to work in.

x

Mark has always earned the respect of everyone around him.
d

Chris and Mark’s friendship goes back to the time Mark blacked Chris’s eye and Chris was headed to beat his head in Tony Howeth showed up to stop Chris
x

For a long time Mark managed my schedule and travel. He traveled with me all over the world.

I say all of the above to say that I really do know Mark and have for a long time. I can truly say that I love him and thank God for him.

Mark, happy birthday from Betty and me. We love you and are very proud of you!

Wonderful time in Bolivia

The marriage retreat is over and was a great success. The people are all telling Kevin and Beth that they want to do it again. There were a total of 11 or 12 couples at the retreat. The Lord spoke to hearts. I saw tears rolling down some cheeks, people spoke to us afterwards to say what a blessing it had been.

This morning we will be going to church, Sunday School and then evening service. Tomorrow there will be a leader’s meeting, Lord willing.

God is using Kevin and Beth White. I can highly recommend them to you as missionaries. They will be home on furlough starting the end of May. You would be blessed to have them in your church during this time. We have already booked them for Vision’s mission’s conference.

You can get more information about the White’s at their blog here. They are a wise mission dollar investment.

I challenge you to come for a visit. You will love what you see God doing. You will want to be part of it.

The White’s planted a church, Iglesia Bautista Vision several years ago. They are now preparing the people to lead on when they are on furlough. Please pray for them.
