RZ

It was while he was a student at the Peru Baptist College in 2005 that R Z attended a class on Muslim Evangelism taught by a missionary to North Africa. God used that class to give him a burden for the Muslim people.  Since then, R has been faithful in the work of the ministry. He has planted and pastored a church and trained young men for the ministry, one of whom is now pastoring the church he started in Arequipa, Peru.

R and his wife, A, and their baby girl arrived on the field of North Africa in April 2011 and are currently in language school to learn Arabic. They are sent out of Vision Baptist Missions International. R is praying about starting a business and house church in the southern Moroccan city of Marrakesh.

Tyler and Gretchen Master

Tyler was raised in a Christian home and got saved at the age of fifteen. He surrendered to preach at the age of eighteen. He started studying at Grace Baptist Bible Institute to prepare for his call into ministry. He then made his way down to Peru for an internship that was required by his school. While he was there, he met his wife Gretchen, and they were married in December of 2004.

After marrying, Tyler and Gretchen went back to Peru so Tyler could finish his studies under Chris Gardner. While there, they had their first child Nora in 2007. Tyler finished up his studies and preparation after two years of being there, and they made their way back to the states for deputation. In 2009, they had their second child Judson who was born in Georgia.

Tyler and his family left for the field of North Africa in July 2010. He has been learning Arabic and been using the Spanish he learned while in Peru to work in both countries of Spain and Morocco. He has been travelling back and forth between the two countries every week. Tyler has seen God do great things in the past year with the Arabic people, and he continues to work hard so they all can hear about the one true God.

Pastor taken from home, likely to be killed

The following is an update from Mission Network News. Please pray for this pastor!

Pray that the other Christians will stay bold! God bless these dear brothers. I can only imagine what they are facing!

Iraq (MNN) ― An Iraqi pastor was recently kidnapped and is expected to face death at the hands of his attackers.

Voice of the Martyrs, Canada reports that the house church leader’s daughter recently witnessed her father’s capture when a group of militants broke into their home.

Pastor Jamal reportedly works among the Shabak people–a people who have Jewish roots and speak Arabic and Kurdish. Several weeks ago, militants attacked the home of one of Jamal’s converts with machine gun fire.

It is suspected that the militants targeted Jamal because he has led many Muslims to Christ. It’s feared that the pastor will not be released, but instead will likely be killed by his captors.

Over the past several months, hundreds of thousands of believers have fled Iraq out of fear of just such an incident. (Read more about that here.) Pastor Jamal has bravely remained where he is but is paying the consequences for his faith in this hostile environment.

Pray that Jamal’s capture would not be incentive for Christians to flee the region. Pray that believers would remain bold in their faith despite this frightening setback.

Pray for Jamal’s safety and for peace for his family. Follow up with the pastor’s plight on the Voice of the Martyrs Web site.

Voice in the Villages

We are looking for help to get material into the hands of unreached people groups. We are talking about people that do not have access to the Internet or other means of getting material and help. Many have already heard the gospel or have interest in the gospel.

They need help. Their leaders do not have good training. They do not have access to study materials, Bible College or anything else to help them do a good job. They live in villages that are remote and few missionaries go there today.

This is not to say anything negative about the missionaries. They do want to reach the area but have more on their plate than they are able to handle.

We want to come along side them and help. We want to help train pastors that really do not even have access to these missionaries.

What if we could put good material into their hands each month? Material that they could study and teach others, that could help them grow.

You can help us. We need support. You can send support to

Voice in the Villages
Vision Baptist Missions
P.O. Box 442
Alpharetta, GA 30009

Any amount would be a great blessing. If you want to send monthly or a one time gift you will be helping us to make a difference in many lives around the world.

We are already sending out the material and working in several countries. You can get more information about the Voice in the Villages by clicking here!

We would also like to add you to our paper newsletter that will come out monthly. If you would like to be added please send an email to gardner @bcwe.org and we will add you to the mailing list. If you know of others that might like to receive the newsletter please let me know!

Kanisa Conference 2011

“Kanisa” in Arabic means “church!” I first started this life consuming mission 5 years ago: to plant churches in Muslim cities. I wanted to prepare before I took my family to North Africa but found there to be only two options for training:

1. “Evangelism Only” Conferences (focused on reaching Muslims with no real strategy for church planting and discipleship).

2. “Jesus in the Koran” Conferences (sometimes called “The Insider Movement”).

Now for the second year in a row missionaries from around the Muslim world will gather to learn from each other about the priority of our mission: planting local, indigenous churches in Muslim cities.

What to expect at the Kanisa Conference

Challenging preaching from fundamental church planters.

Panel discussions by experienced men and women to answer the hard questions.

Networking and learning from Missionaries from Central Asia, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Turkey, Southern Asia, and the Middle East.

Join us for 3 days of planning, praying, and preparing for this urgent task
