Missionary Wife Robbed at Gun Point

d

I just got off the phone with missionary Jeff Bush in La Plata, Argentina. They were just robbed in their home at gunpoint. If you remember Mindy is pregnant. Two thieves met them as they opened the door to their garage and home.

They put a gun to Mindy’s head. They stole their wedding rings, engagement ring, both laptop computers, camera, cell phone, jewelry, all the cash in both dollars and pesos that they had, which was about $1,000.

The thieves went into the house. They grabbed the necklace around Mindy’s neck and were going to jerk it off but were kind enough to take it off as they held the gun to her head.

There were two men and with two guns. They were told that if they report this to the police that they will come back and steal the baby, Alexandra.

This is a horrible set back. They have lost down to their wedding rings. They have been held at gun point, they were threatened. The $1,000 was money that is needed for ministry needs this week and must be taken out in cash so it is gone.

They are ok. That is the good news. Mindy, Jeff, and the girls are all ok. But this will be a scare for the family as you know.

Will you pray for them? Would you consider giving a love offering to help get their rings, their computers, camera, etc.

If you want to send a special offering you can send it to

Update on Missionaries in Crisis

Egypt

David and Beth X. live and serve in Egypt. You should know by now that life is very turbulent there. The US embassy has advised all Americans to leave the country. There is rioting, fighting, gun fire, and looting taking place right in front of our missionary’s home.

After much prayer and not really wanting to do so these great servants of God will be evacuated by the US embassy. From there they will purchase a one way ticket back to the States.

They will wait for things to calm down in Egypt. It may take a few weeks or even longer. They want to continue in Egypt and in their ministry. They want to get the language as soon as possible but we all know that God is in control.

While they are in the states you know that our missionary friend will want to share what God is doing in Egypt and see God raise up more missionaries. Please be in prayer for them. If you would like to get in touch with David and do not have his contact info then leave a comment below with your info and I will get your info to him.

South Africa
Michael Lovett update

Michael Lovett is a missionary in South Africa that I have given updates on several times. He was very seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. Both of his arms are in pain and basically useless. Everything has to be done for him.

He is unable to sit up very much but is making every effort to walk around the house a couple of times a day. He gets very discouraged and depressed because he is normally very active.

He had gone nearly 6 weeks without a haircut because of the accident. This is very unusual for him. His sons finally gave him a haircut today. He had also not shaved since the accident and so his wife and daughter finally shaved him. I understand that was quite funny since they didn’t know what they were doing. He was covered in band aides from their help. Remember he can’t use his hands and arms at all. Normal every day things are a great trial for him right now.

On top of this the insurance company is trying to not pay for things that they had approved. All of this is trying for Mrs. Libby.

The person who was also in the wreck is suing Brother Lovett so they have nuisance of them constantly hassling them.

Times are hard for the Lovetts right now. Would you please pray for them. Would you consider giving them a phone call or sending them an email. Mrs Libby’s cell number is 27-727-33-6935. Don’t forget the time difference of 7 hours ahead of eastern time zone.

Just talked to the Lovetts

I just got off the phone with the Lovett family. I was able to talk to Brother Lovett. That was great considering how serious his injuries are. He had just gotten up and walked around the room and was very tired. He said that he had to get up and move because you begin to wonder what is happening with you when you are laying in a bed and everyone keeps coming in and looking at you. He said he wondered if they were lying to him about his being able to walk and had to try!

The surgeon had come in twice today. He will be having surgery on Wednesday, Lord willing! They are going in to see where the bone fragments are and to get them under control.

Mrs. Lovett said that he is bruised and sore all over. The surgeon says that is because of the trauma. Though bones may not be broken the heart and lungs were bashed as well as the rest of his body. He has bruises everywhere and is sore to the touch. The nurses are very encouraged because he has been able to get up and walk.

Mrs. Lovett talked to the witness. The witness had seen blood coming out of his mouth, ears, and nose. She confessed that she had lied to Brother Lovett but didn’t know he was a preacher. She had told him that everything was all right and that he was in good shape. She was trying to encourage him.

Mrs. Lovett said that what the witness had told her husband had kept him encouraged and appreciated the witness helping Brother Lovett.

Brother Lovett’s right hand is messed pretty bad and he is right handed. Please pray for him. His left arm is full of pins and screws from the shoulder to the elbow, I understand!

Missionary Kevin Hall took him a fan. This little blessing has meant so much to him. He was just laying there in a pool of sweat before.

Please pray for this family that God will continue to work. The Lovetts have insurance as well as the person that was involved in the accident. Lord willing they will only have to cover the deductible if any!

They would appreciate your prayers, calls, and emails. God bless all of you that are praying for them in this difficult time!

Michael Lovett, missionary to South Africa

d

Michael Lovett is a missionary to South Africa with Macedonia World Baptist Missions. He was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident yesterday as you have already read on this blog.

I just got off the phone with Mrs. Lovett. I hope I get most of this right but I think you will want to be praying for them.

Brother Lovett was in X-ray when I called. They need clear pictures to assess the damage of basically his whole body, arms, chest, legs, pelvic area, etc. He is in lots of pain.

They have put a halo around his right wrist and forearm. They have been able to save both hands. It will be a long time before he gets use or mobility in his hands.

They put a pin in his bicep area, fragments moved around that had to be cleared out. This is a cause for concern about infection. Basically both arms have been shattered and crushed.

Right not he is out of crisis and getting stabilized. There had been restricted blood flow due to a bone coming apart in his shoulder that was blocking the carotidic artery. His vitals are now stable.

He is on pain medication every 3 hours but still suffering. His mind is playing tricks on him due to the medicine!

They do have good medical care. They will need a letter of guarantee which she should be able to get from their insurance company on Monday.

He will need at least one more surgery or two

Please pray for his comfort. He can’t even scratch nose. They want basically no movement until the surgeons have made sure all fragments of the bones are cleared, etc.

Pray for the family. Pray for the doctors. An accident of this magnitude is always horrible but being on the other side of the world compounds things even though they have good medical care they are away from family!

Latest update

I just got off the phone with missionary Kevin Hall in South Africa. This is the latest news. Kevin understands from Libby, Michael’s wife that if all goes well Michael will need 8 to 10 weeks of recuperation.

His vitals have not been stable. Pulse has been up to 192 beats a minute. Both arms are severely damaged. They are pulling out bone fragments and pulling a halo system on to relieve pressure on the arteries.

There will be surgery, Lord willing, on Monday and or Tuesday to fix injuries. One wrist is broken and bicep possibly separated. One arm looked like a Z. The femur was possibly broken.

They will be in need of financial support for all the medical expenses. They need prayer for all the family.

Thanks for all of you who help get people praying for this dear family!
