Vicente Garcia prayer letter

d

August 20, 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

I want to thank you first of all for your prayers that you are making for your missionaries. We are very thankful. Thank you as well for your economic support. May God continue greatly blessing you. We love you.

This month we had our youth camp and it was a great blessing. There were 33 young people in attendance. God worked in a special way. There were pastors from different church, Pastor Mamadu, Pastor Talibala, Pastor Salif, Pastor Zacari, Pastor Daniel, and Pastor Konate with myself and my wife. WE are very happy because many young people gave their lives to Christ and decided to start serving in the work of God. Please keep praying for this country. There is so much need and so few laborers. Pray that God would touch hearts to decide to leave NOW for the mission field.

The second of September pastor Keith Shumaker and his wife Rebecca will be with us returning from the US after four months. They will only be here for a week and then will return again. We have three goals for Pastor Shumaker’s visit:

1. To being building an auditorium for a new work being pastored by Pastor Zacari.

2. To hold a missions conference.

3. To hold a wedding for Pastor Mamadu with Sister Antoinette.

We ask for your prayers to be able to accomplish these plans for our pastor.

We also ask for your prayers for the children’s Sunday School class. It has shrunk from an average of 55 kids to now 25 or 30 due to the month of Ramadan. Many of the children are Muslims and when Sunday morning comes around their parents won’t let them leave their homes until Ramadan is over since they are fasting all day. Pray that all the children will return to church after Ramadan. Every Thursday we have an outreach to orphans. The majority of the orphans are Muslims. We help them with food and Bible lessons. One young Muslim man named Albert recently accepted Christ and came to our summer camp. The other day he came to church so happy to tell us that his Muslim neighbors are learning the songs he was taught in church about the love of Christ. It was a blessing to hear this.

God is merciful ever day and strengthens us to do the work in Burkina Faso. It is a dream of ours that God would allow us to see each of you some day. We miss you greatly. Thank you for the privilege to write you one more time. May God bless you.

Prayer requests:

• For Pastor Keith’s travel

• For the needs of each pastor: Talibala, salif, Zacari, konate, Mamadu

• For the missions conference coming up

• For baptisms that are coming up

• For the ministry to children and brother Gilbert who runs the orphan ministry

• For God to continue helping and strengthening us to move forward in the work

Could I ask for some help for this brother?

I met Jaime Rafael Benitez years ago in Colombia. He loves God. He has paid a price to serve God. He left Colombia and went to Peru to study at the Bible College. He moved his entire family down. He has been there for several years now. He has completed his studies. He is ready to go back to Colombia.

Colombia is a very needy country. I will give you in Jaime’s own words the reason he is wanting to plant churches tomorrow, but today I just wanted to ask you if you would be willing to help him!

He will need monthly support. He is a proven church planter. I would be glad to talk to you and explain his ministry if you need.

He asked me to see if I could find some people who would help him for about 2 years. He will need about $1200 a month minimum.

You will not go wrong supporting this man. Would you pray about it? Would you contact me with any questions you have at 770-500-8021 or gardner @bcwe.org?

Jaime and family would be a welcome addition to your mission’s family.

You can contact him personally via the following options:

Kevin Hall‘s Blessing Service will be on June 27, 2010. This is one of our sweetest services of the year. Kevin and Corli have been a great blessing to our church. They are members of Whitfield Baptist Church and serve in South Africa.

Kevin made the pulpit we preach behind as a gift as we started the church. He was an integral part in the starting of Vision.

d

Tyler Master’s Send Off Service will be on July 18, 2010. Tyler and Gretchen are missionaries sent out from Vision Baptist Church to North Africa. They have already had their blessing service (getting the sword and memory box) but we can’t let them leave without a special night of prayer. They have blessed their home church greatly.

c

Mark Tolson’s Blessing Service will be on August 8, 2010. Mark and Natasha are members of Vision Baptist Church going to China. This will be just two days before they leave for the field. You will not want to miss this special service as you take an opportunity to let them know you love them.

I hope you will plan to be here and participate in this special service for each of our missionaries. We will also be taking a special love offering for each of them.

World Vision Celebration will take place on September 16-19, 2010. So far we have the following missionaries who will be with us.

Philip and Lori Bassham will be starting their deputation as missionaries to Thailand. They obviously are missionaries from our own church.

Mark and Amy Coffey head Vision Baptist Missions and do much to help our missionaries and to raise support for International Church Planters carrying the gospel to other places.

Bradley Edmondson serves with Medical Missions Evangelism and has used medical clinics to effectively get the gospel to many people while being a genuine physical help to them.

Miguel Murillo serves as a South American Church Planter and is helping others start churches and actively training men to go out as pastors and missionaries through the Macedonia Bible College in Arequipa, Peru.

Scott and Melissa Newton are starting their deputation as church planting missionaries to Spain. They are members of Vision.

Keith and Rebecca Shumaker are veteran church planting missionaries in Burkina Faso. God has greatly used them and you are going to really enjoy spending time with them.

Kevin and Beth White are veteran church planting missionaries in Bolivia. God has greatly used them and I am sure that you will enjoy your time with them.

Others are still being invited so this is going to be a great time of celebration. Mark it on your calendar.

Dreams that God has put on my heart!

Yesterday was Celebration Sunday as you know. I gave you some dreams that God has placed on my heart. I wanted to share them in print so you wouldn’t forget them nor will I. Though it was a rainy day yesterday God really blessed. Now I pass on to you what is on my heart for you to pray with me about. Feel free to question me about anything you see here.

I can only share with you the dreams that God has put in my heart

I am asking God for 100 families from Vision serving all over the world in the next 10 years!

I am asking God to allow us to send men and women through our church mission to the world from foreign countries to foreign countries!

I am asking God to give us enough strong, dedicated people in this church to raise up, train, and send out this vast army! (It will take a very strong local church with super dedicated people to do all that God has placed on my heart. Though you will not go you can help me help those that will go. We must pray for them, train them, and send them out to do God’s will)

I am asking God for a place to work and prepare people from in a good building and piece of property!

I am asking God to allow us to start 100 churches across the USA that will be like Vision with a heart to reach the world and their community!

I asking God to allow our church to go into downtown Atlanta and love the unloved and make a difference right here in our community!

I am asking God to allow Vision to have One Million dollars given through us to world evangelism per year!

I am asking God to allow Vision to prepare and send materials from here to the people who have the least materials in their hands! (I am asking God to give us men to do this right now and others who will prepare to go!)

I am asking God to allow us start TV and radio stations in countries that are not getting the gospel!

I am asking God to raise up men who will come and help us get the gospel to the world in our generation!

I am asking God to fill the Our Generation Training Center with students who will make an impact here and around the world!

I am asking God to let us impact our community with the word of God in such a way that His name will be glorified!

I am asking God to magnify His name in all the world through the ministry of Vision!

I am asking God to give His Word free course and let it run and be glorified all over the world!

I am asking God to let us show people how to live a victorious Christian life free from the bondage of legalism but in holiness and purity!

I would love to hear your comments.

The Cambridge Seven

d

Seven young Englishmen (C. T. Studd, M. Beauchamp, W. W. Cassels, D. E. Hoste, S. P. Smith, A. T. Podhill-Turner, C. H. Polhill-Turner) who went to China in 1885 as missionaries.

Today is the anniversary of the Cambridge Seven arriving in China to meet Hudson Taylor. They had sailed and traveled for 6 weeks before arriving in China.

These men would go on to make a difference in eternity and also in the hearts of men and women as they would surrender their lives to be missionaries around the world and especially to China.

As I think of them today I wonder where the Alpharetta Seven are? I wonder where the young men and women willing to risk all of their lives to take the gospel to the world are. God has given us some great men and women in the Our Generation Training Center with just that heart.

We have more than seven right now preparing to go, not to China but some where in the world with the gospel. We have the great Vision Baptist Church standing behind them, loving them, training them and sending them out.

I beg God to stir the flames of passion for Him, His Word and His cause of world evangelism. My heart breaks for the Muslim countries who have no hope. They live hopeless lives and die even worse deaths.

My heart breaks for India and China where very little gospel is preached. I pray for Indonesia, the 4th largest country in the world, with very little gospel preaching taking place yet the doors are wide open.

My heart breaks for the vast area of Africa where little or no true gospel preaching exists. Where there are entire language groups with nearly no gospel witness.

Will you go? Will you help me help people go? Will you pray that God will send forth laborers? Will you help me get the message out?

The Cambridge Seven went out and by going not only did they make a difference as missionaries but they raised up an awareness that some said was almost embarrassing for the cause of world evangelism. Will you get involved?
