Chosen to do something

Today’s reading I Chronicles 13-16

I Chronicles 28:10 Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

Imagine the confidence that a person would have if he or she knew that God had personally chosen them to do something for Him. David told Solomon. You need to pay attention now. God has chosen you to build His house. Be strong. Believe. Be faithful. Get it done.

I think when we read that we are impressed that God was so clear in His command. We think of how we would have reacted if we knew that God was speaking to us.

Might I remind you that if you are called to be a missionary, preacher, pastor, soul winner, Sunday School teacher or whatever you should know that God has big plans for you. His plans do not include your failure but rather His glory.

Stand up and be excited when you think of what God has done in your life. Step out in faith expecting God to do great things. He has and He will.

50 years ago today!

s

On May 6, 1962 at the Wrigley Baptist Church God changed my life forever. I was born again. That day I realized my need of a Savior and trusted Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross.

My pastor at the time, Carlton Flowers, preached on the cross and how Jesus gave His life for us. I knew that some how I had to believe that day. My dad told me later that I had been asking him for weeks if he wanted me to get saved. He told me not to worry about it knowing that when the time was right I wouldn’t be asking him. That day came on May 6, 1962.

I recently had the chance of going back to Wrigley and seeing the church from the outside. I visited Mill Creek where I was baptized the following Sunday. I remember the tears that came to my eyes realizing what God did to me and for me that day.

Though my pastor has been in heaven for years now, I suppose, I have never forgotten him and how God used him to make such a difference in my life.

I want to thank God and praise Him for saving someone so unworthy like me. I was nothing when He saved me and all that I am today is due to His grace. He loves me though I have failed Him so many times.

Do you have a testimony of when you got saved? Do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven if you died today?

Thanking and praising God

Today’s reading I Chronicles 10-12

I Chronicles 23:30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;

I find it highly interesting the lack of thanking and praising I do when I consider that in this passage God had His people set aside special people to be in charge of thanking and praising in the morning plus to repeat the same procedure in the evening.

He is worthy of our praise. We should be thankful for all that He is doing. I should learn to control my thoughts and emotions and make time each day to just thank Him and praise Him.

It will change much about my thought life and my emotions. Do you spend much time in praise and thanksgiving. Is that a constant in your heart and mind.

Thanks and praise be to our God for all that He has done in our lives!

home again with missing devos

We have been in Trenton, Georgia at the Sand Mountain Bible Camp all this week. We have had a great time. I didn’t have WiFi there and so I did my devotions and saved the notes on a document. This morning I posted them. They disappeared but when I thought they were posted I deleted the document to be found no more.

I will have 3 missing devotional notes. I actually told them to post to face book and they come up with a error message. So sorry.

It was a wonderful time and God has blessed greatly.

Not really sure how many people read the devotionals and so not convinced that I need to continue posting them as I might be giving you too much to read!

Preparing for your son’s ministry

Today’s reading I Chronicles 8-9

I Chronicles 22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the Lord must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

David had great things in his heart to do for the Lord. God chose not to allow David to do what he so desperately wanted to do. However, God told David He would allow Solomon, David’s son, to do the work. Then David went to work preparing for the ministry that God would allow his son to have.

David prayed for his son. David prepared for his son. He spent the rest of his life getting things ready for his son to do something extremely great and large for the Lord.

I wonder what we are doing to prepare our children to have successful spiritual lives after we are gone. Are we thinking of the next generation. Are we considering what God can do and will do after we are gone.

It is not enough to just live this life here and to do what we need for our lives. We must carry the gospel forward for the kingdom’s sake.

Begin making preparations today to do great things to help your children successfully serve the Lord.
