What do you believe?

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Notice that Paul believed all that was written in the Bible he had at that time. The New Testament was not written. He only had the Old Testament. He believed all things written in the law and the prophets. Do you?

Paul was willing to boldly proclaim that he worshipped God through Jesus after the way that the Jews were calling heresy. He boldly proclaims that he believes the Bible.

I hope we will all be bold to say we worship and we believe. I hope we will dedicate time to read the Bible so that we can with honesty say that we believe.

How can you say you believe if you have not even taken the time to read it?

Good conscience

Acts 23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

Paul lived with a desire to keep a good, clear conscience. What a goal for all of us to have! The Holy Spirit will make our conscience more sensitive than normal. He will speak to us and direct us.

The most important person that we have to please is the Lord Jesus. Paul was striving to keep a good conscience before God. Pleasing God is the highest motive that we could have!

Hundredfold men

Hundredfold men

1. Biblical Basis for the idea

i. Matthew 13:23

ii. Mark 4:8

iii. Matthew 25:15

iv. 1Corinthians 15:10

2. The mathematical model of taking a number and doubling it shows the progression. Would you rather have a $1,000 a day for 30 days or one penny doubled every day for 30 days

3. The ministry of God’s gifted people

i. 2Timothy 2:2

ii. Ephesians 4:1-16

4. The potential of one man training 100 leaders of leaders that can train another 100 leaders of leaders

i. We are not going to have as our goal to train leaders. They will be just the result of our ministry

ii. As we train hundredfold men we will automatically train twice as many 60 fold men and 4 times as many 30 fold men

Tyrants Closed Countries

• “I have but one candle of life to burn, and I would rather burn it out in a land filled with darkness than in a land flooded with light”– John Keith Falconer

• “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.”– C.T. Studd

• “And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives…and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.”– Nate Saint

• “The more obstacles you have, the more opportunities there are for God to do something.”– Clarence W. Jones

• “We who have Christ’s eternal life need to throw away our own lives.”– George Verwer

• Some wish to live within the sound of church and chapel bell. I wish to run a rescue mission within a yard of hell. Charles Thomas Studd (1862-1931)

a. Closed countries pose a risk and cause us to rethink our strategy. Actually the strategy you will learn in this course will not really be changed. We will just have to use real discretion in how to put it into play

b. The greatest missionary that ever lived was Jesus Christ. He did not accomplish his task or mission by public meetings or work although He did a great deal of it. He accomplished his work in privacy training 11 men that would shake the entire world when He left.

c. Closed countries are not new. In all honesty Israel was itself a fairly closed country in Bible times. A few were martyred and others suffered in prison and punishments.

d. The answer to closed countries is and will be discipleship. II Timothy 2:2. The missionary can find one man and train him and teach him as his friend. Training not just nominal Christians but people that will be capable of leading a ministry for the Lord.

e. Our goals have been wrong. We have wanted to build great churches, win great multitudes to the Lord but the greatest missionary of all chose 12 men that He might be “with” them.

f. Multiplication will be the answer not addition. Teach one who can teach another also.
