Tyrants Closed Countries

• “I have but one candle of life to burn, and I would rather burn it out in a land filled with darkness than in a land flooded with light”– John Keith Falconer

• “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.”– C.T. Studd

• “And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives…and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.”– Nate Saint

• “The more obstacles you have, the more opportunities there are for God to do something.”– Clarence W. Jones

• “We who have Christ’s eternal life need to throw away our own lives.”– George Verwer

• Some wish to live within the sound of church and chapel bell. I wish to run a rescue mission within a yard of hell. Charles Thomas Studd (1862-1931)

a. Closed countries pose a risk and cause us to rethink our strategy. Actually the strategy you will learn in this course will not really be changed. We will just have to use real discretion in how to put it into play

b. The greatest missionary that ever lived was Jesus Christ. He did not accomplish his task or mission by public meetings or work although He did a great deal of it. He accomplished his work in privacy training 11 men that would shake the entire world when He left.

c. Closed countries are not new. In all honesty Israel was itself a fairly closed country in Bible times. A few were martyred and others suffered in prison and punishments.

d. The answer to closed countries is and will be discipleship. II Timothy 2:2. The missionary can find one man and train him and teach him as his friend. Training not just nominal Christians but people that will be capable of leading a ministry for the Lord.

e. Our goals have been wrong. We have wanted to build great churches, win great multitudes to the Lord but the greatest missionary of all chose 12 men that He might be “with” them.

f. Multiplication will be the answer not addition. Teach one who can teach another also.

Happy Anniversary to Stephen and Ashlee

f

Today is Stephen and Ashlee’s second wedding anniversary. We are glad that God sent them our way. They are in the training center preparing to be missionaries to South Africa.

Join me in wishing them a very happy anniversary. You can read more about them here!

What price are we willing to pay?

Acts 22:24  The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

They bring Paul into the castle. They are going to question him. They are going to whip him to get the truth out of him.

The amazing thing is that Paul had this sort of thing happen to him regularly. This time he will use legal means to get out of the whipping. Many other times he basically said, bring it on!

Today the church regularly uses every means possible to not get into trouble for the gospel. We are not willing to hazard our lives for the cause of Christ!

January – March 2010

The beginning of 2010 has brought many blessings.  Since January and February are summer months, we have been busy with camps and church activities. About every week was busy with the men’s retreat, women’s retreat, youth camp and kid’s camp. Praise the Lord that some salvation decisions as well as decisions for the Lord’s service was made throughout these activities.

Our theme this year in the Lighthouse Baptist Church is that all may KNOW and GROW in Christ. Through weekly visitation, daily radio broadcast, web page, church ministries and more, it is our desire that many, many people in Argentina can come to know our Saviour. To complete the task of the Great Commission, we desire that all those that know Christ can grow in Christ. The Bible Institute, discipleship course, ministries and many activities are to help Christians grow and go reach more people for our Lord.  God has given us a great start and we are excited to see what the Lord has planned for 2010.

As you may remember, we began a new work on the south side of the city.  We ask that you pray for this new work and for Hernan, the Bible Institute student that the Lord is using to be in charge of this work.  His desire is that soon this will turn into a church and he will be able to be the pastor. He is beginning his 2nd year of studies and the Lord is using him and his family to bring many to the Saviour.

March is always a busy month since schools start and the city goes back to normal.  Not only will the Bible Institute start back up, but on the 22nd of March we will begin a ministry we have not done in years, teaching English classes.  When we arrived to the country 6 years ago, we held English classes and still have faithful people from this ministry. We desire to begin again to use it as an Evangelistic tool and see many people saved for our Lord!

Along with blessings sometimes come battles. During the month of January our church was robbed and the sound system was taken. Two weeks later, I was in the office with the assistant pastor and another man and the police came rushing onto the church property with guns held out and grabbed a young man that had sneaked onto the church property.  Thank the Lord a neighbor had called the police and they came to get him. Praise the Lord that our God watches over His children!

Our family is doing well and Mindy is doing great with the pregnancy. Our 4th daughter will be born in April and we ask you to help us pray in this last part of her pregnancy.

Thank you kindly for your prayers and support and we would love to invite you, your pastor or youth group to come and visit us.  Not only will you see where your prayers and mission support goes, but we believe that you will be encouraged in the Lord and return to your church with desire to see many people saved.

Here to Serve,

Jeff and Mindy Bush and family

Happy Birthday Betty!

Today is my wife’s birthday day. It is also my mother’s birthday. I want to wish both of them a very happy birthday. I thank God for my mother. She taught me the Word of God and more than any other person inspired me to get into my Bible and to learn to study it and teach it.

Happy Birthday mother. Thanks for all you have done for me.

f

Betty you have been the greatest gift that God ever gave me. I do not have words nor any other means to ever express my great love to you. Thanks for being my friend. Thanks for being my wife. Thanks for being my coworker in the work of the Lord Jesus. Thanks for encouraging me. Thanks for standing with me through thick and thin, literally and figuratively. You are the greatest woman on this planet. I love you.

f

Thanks for being a godly mother. Thank you for raising children that would do right, love God, love His service. Thank you for always contacting the children. Keeping showing your love all these years. You are a great wife and mother.

s

Thanks for putting a heart for God into our children. Thank you for all the night time prayers, the meals prepared, the clothes purchased and cared for every day. Thank you for the example you have shown our children about how to be a godly woman, a great wife, a marvelous mother, a faithful friend, a person who loves God and church.

d

From the time they were small until they were big you were there. You have cared for them and everyone else that God put in your way. You are a Dorcas woman if there ever was one. I love you and thank you. I hope you enjoy today thinking of how good God has been to you.

f

No telling how many times we have walked down a church aisle. Many times in a wedding vow renewal service or to enter a church and share our burden to get the gospel to the world. You have been by my side and been my greatest supporter for all these years. Thanks.

d

How many meals have you cooked? How many people have you served? You have always been hard at the work of the Lord and I am so proud of you.

d

Not really sure what I thought when you got into handling snakes though. I do know this, I wasn’t by your side.

d

So on this your birthday, I want you to know how much I love you. I want to wish you your best day yet. I thank God for the 37 years He has given us together so far and look forward to another 30 years together or until He comes.

Here comes the ladies picture that made my day. I was in Burkina Faso and got this picture from John Pearson. It made my day. Thank you my love.
