Showing acceptance

We are to take the initiative in showing acceptance toward others, making them feel valued and respected.

• We unconditionally accept others without considering their external features, lifestyle, decisions, habits and so forth. (Note: acceptance is not approval.)

• We do not have the option of rejecting any person, though we may, in a culturally appropriate way, address behaviors that the Bible clearly declares as sinful.

• We are to eliminate our own dehumanizing behaviors such as threats, intimidations, power-plays and other ungodly forms of manipulation.

• We accept people-period; like Jesus, we must reject labels such as race, generation and gender as defective guides for how to treat another human being.

• We expect that accepting others in these ways may cost us dearly

Cross-cultural Servanthood: Serving the World in Christlike Humility (Duane Elmer)

Vicente and Gabby Garcia

I just had the privilege of eating lunch prepared by Gabby Garcia. They are missionaries with Vision Baptist Missions serving with Keith Shumaker, Macedonia World Baptist Missions. The picture is of their house. There will be more pictures of this wonderful family to follow.

Great start in Burkina Faso

We stayed up until about 12:30 or past midnight. Got settled in and then got up at 7:30 am. Getting ready to start a day teaching the pastors. It is not as hot as usual but it is warm. The air is stagnant in the house because you keep the doors and windows shut to keep out the dirt that is in the air.

By the way things are wonderful here. We made it from Atlanta to Paris to Tipoli to Ougadougou, Burkina Faso.

In just a few minutes we will be going to meet with the pastoral staff. I am also looking forward to seeing Vicente and Gabby Garcia who are wonderful missionaries, who lived in the USA and then trained in Peru. That is going to be a blast to see them.
