More persecution in China

The Chinese only have religious freedom if they worship in a government controlled church. They do not allow their people to worship God according to the dictates of their conscience and the Word of God.

I want to ask you to pray for Chinese Christians. We have friends and also a member of our church that is going to China to carry the gospel. We must ask God to give them liberty, power and boldness to preach the gospel.

LINFEN, China — Towering eight stories over wheat fields, the Golden Lamp Church was built to serve nearly 50,000 worshippers in the gritty heart of China’s coal country.

But that was before hundreds of police and hired thugs descended on the mega-church, smashing doors and windows, seizing Bibles and sending dozens of worshippers to hospitals with serious injuries, members and activists say

Today, the church’s co-pastors are in jail. The gates to the church complex in the northern province of Shanxi are locked and a police armored personnel vehicle sits outside.

The closure of what may be China’s first mega-church is the most visible sign that the communist government is determined to rein in the rapid spread of Christianity, with a crackdown in recent months that church leaders call the harshest in years.

Great Day and Wonderful Fellowship

What a day! God was so good to us. Trent had the idea of moving all that we could today, Saturday in just a three hour time period. I got to church at 9:30 and the place was already crawling with activity. So many working so hard for so long. It ended up being a lot more time than many planned I am sure.

But it was great. We had teamwork, fellowship, lots of laughs, etc. I am sure there will be sore backs and everything that goes with that tomorrow also.

The majority of the things that could be moved are at the new building. When you come in to the normal Vision building tomorrow it will be nothing like what you are used to, I can promise you that.

But soon and very soon we will be enjoying our new building. Lord willing, the plan is now to meet at the current location the rest of this year.

Our first service in the new building will be the first Sunday of 2010. That is one week from today. So be sure and make plans to be with us for our first service.

Tomorrow afternoon we are going to open the doors of the new building and let you get inside and see what it looks like so don’t miss that opportunity.

God has been so good to us. I am excited about all that God is doing and has planned in this ministry for the future.

Thank you to all of you that have worked so hard to bring us to this point.

We will still need lots of hard work next week getting the old building ready to turn back into the landlord. So please make plans to work some more!

Merry Christmas to one and all

x

Betty and I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. There is nothing more special than considering the fact that God would love us so much that He would put on human flesh and come to this world to die for us.

Christmas is about a lot more than gifts, food, and parties. It is about the God of Heaven moving forward on His plan of salvation. So I want to say to all of you to be sure of your salvation.

Do not trust in joining the church, filling out a decision card, or even praying certain words. Trust in the fact that you realized that you had sinned against a Holy God. That you deserved Hell but that Jesus loved you so much that He gave His life on Calvary for you. Trust the fact that the Holy Spirit of God convicted and convinced you of your sinful condition. Then trust in the fact that you received the free gift of God, salvation through Jesus Christ.

That is the only way to know that you will really have a Merry Christmas.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for all that you do for us. Thank you for your cards, gifts, notes, and greetings. You have been so kind to us. We feel greatly honored that we are allowed to serve God at Vision Baptist Church.
