Just spoke with the Physician’s Assistant

I am at the hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Physician’s Assistant just came out and talked to us. He is the first one of the medical staff that has talked with us.

We gave them Dad’s Living Will. The PA said that Dad had responded to him and was following some commands. We will be seeing Dad in about 5 minutes and I will give further updates in the comment section below here.

The blood clot is approximately 4 inches by 1 inch in his brain.

The PA talked about taking him upstairs to another room and giving him therapy and then later on to a nursing home. As usual the comment was made that we never know what might happen.

We really do not know much more now than we did a few minutes ago.

The PA said that he will get the doctor to talk to us sometime today via the phone or in person.

  1. just got back from seeing dad. He is awake. He can answer questions with noises. He can shake his head. He is now off the blood pressure medicine.

His blood pressure is holding at about 140 over 80 or 90.

He can move his left hand.

    they are lowering the oxygen.

If he continues to improve they may move him to another room out of CCU tomorrow.

  6. have a meeting with a representative from hospice at 3 pm. I will let you know what happens from there.

Quite a difficult time. He does look at us now. He can’t talk but at least looks and has smiled several times.

  8. We have just finished talking with a hospice representative. Lord willing, Dad will be going home sometime tomorrow to be made as comfortable as possible until he dies.

We have some paper work to do and hoops to jump through but it seems this is the best that we can do.

Please understand that I cannot be calling each of you or keeping up with all of your calls like I would normally. My family does need me now and this will affect what I do over the next few days.

  9. I will be praying for you and your family. I know this is one of the hardest things to have to sit and see and not be able to do anything to help. Just remember joy comes in the morning. And what a wonderful morning that will be.

I just wanted to let you know that Michelle and I are praying for your Dad and your family. I heard a man say one time “God’s answers are wiser than our prayers.” AMEN. My prayers are that your family will have peace and understanding through it all.

    Love you Brother

Please know that we are praying for your dad and your family during this time. If there is anything I can do to help you while you are away I would be more than happy to; check your mail, cut your grass, etc. Anything at all I am here for you.
